HELICOPTER HANGAR DOOR ON FRIGATES
The images show one of two 7 x 10-meter naval hangar doors now in service on a frigate.
Carbon construction gives low weight with high rigidity. Designed to withstand 80t of blast pressure.
Considerable weight reduction from 2,500kg to 500kg
Developed to be completely watertight and capable of resisting pressures down to 300m below the ocean waves.
Design, construction, FEM analysis, and prototype building of operating consoles in carbon-fibre sandwich construction. Feasibility studies developed with computer simulation to model detonation shock loadings. The resulting full-scale prototype tests were 100% successful, delivering a series of gains: weight saving, an ergonomic layout free of construction constraints, and a modular design.
Development and prototype construction of lightweight frigate furniture made of carbon fibre composite. Functions properly with impact loads due to detonation and meets fire protection standards (IMO). Weight savings of over 40% with a higher load capacity could be achieved.
Lightweight composite parts for mine-hunting boats.
